Launching on the 3rd of May 2013 at Brunswick Street Art Gallery, OBJECT FUTURE is a design exhibition consisting of three rooms of the work of Melbourne and Tasmanian based designers.
Co-curated by Dale Hardiman and Suzannah Henty, the exhibition reinterprets the notion of galleries as exclusive spaces for classical interpretation of art. OBJECT FUTURE proposes that the conceptual and aesthetic components of design permit an exhibition entirely exploring this practice. Brunswick Street Art Gallery was chosen for its community centred approach and for its wide variety of exhibited artists.
OBJECT FUTURE endeavours to reclaim the gallery environment for design, as a place of criticism and a place for creative and constructive dialogue around design and its practice – while simultaneously providing a platform for emerging designers to present their work to a wider audience outside academic critique.
Furniture, typography, lighting, graphic design, designer makers; OBJECT FUTURE surveys the latest innovative work by up-and-coming designers:
Eleanor Adams, Ash Allen, Marcus Jan Csomor, Georgie Cummings, Angelo Guinta, Thom Lentini, Edward Linacre, Duncan Meerding, Melissa Pepers, Pete Saunders, Elena Schaedel, Tom Talveski, Rowan Turnham
