Chris Edmund ~ Mouth and Trousers
I was Head of the Acting Department at The Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA) for many years.
Actors trained under my guidance include Hugh Jackman, Frances O'Connor and Jai Courtney. I am a published playwright with my work receiving high critical acclaim. My most recent work 'Dirty Laundry' which I wrote and directed was performed at the Smock Alley Theatre Dublin in July 2014. Earlier this year I was delighted to have Hugh Jackman announce a scholarship in my name at a surprise event in New York. I began painting three years ago when after a period of being blocked as a writer a friend suggested that to ‘unblock’ I attempt another art form, so I went out and bought paints and canvases and started work. Looking back I realized that my work in the theatre was often highly visual and the importance of the evolution of the stage picture and composition a big element in my directorial process. So my painting is a natural and organic development of this. Website with details of my work as a director, teacher, writer and painter.
