Archive > ecstasy Through Degradation, Rhys Knight

Abandoning their earlier explorations into Surrealist art, Realism became the beginning foundation for the creation of these works. Although Realism was the initial methodology to conceive each piece, the artists found that materiality became an important component for the works. A literal conveyance of both the life and death instinct felt to be working against the theory of it being innate. Therefore the utilisation of expressive brush work allowed for the works to become a translation of it, combining realism and expressiveness to heighten the aesthetics and concept embedded within each piece.

Rhys Knight will present a series of paintings for Ecstasy through Degradation.

Exhibition runs from 6pm, 30th September - 3pm, 13th October 2016.
