Júlia Palazzo
Macro Deity

Júlia Palazzo was born and brought up in the South of Brazil, in a family of environmentalists, travellers and book worms. She moved to Australia on her own when she was 17, and studied design for 4 years before moving to Melbourne and starting a creative partnership with Chuck Mayfield, "Mayfield Palace". Her time is evenly divided between making art, learning about a wide range of topics, and travelling the world.

Júlia's art is a celebration of nature, inspiring people to treasure its beauty in the world and within themselves. Her visions are manifested in intricate drawings or flowing vibrant paintings on a myriad of surfaces. They often portray creatures suspended in a narrative with no beginning or end, and evoke a range of contrasting emotions.

This series was born from her love for the ocean and scuba diving. She describes being underwater as a form of meditation, when one is weightless and completely present. When looking at the colours and shapes found in marine beings, she feels a deep admiration for life and the evolution that has sculpted them into colourful masterpieces. Macro Deity is an attempt at expressing and sharing this feeling through dramatic paintings that reframe seemingly insignificant creatures.
