Travelling East Africa in 2010‚ Nicole Hunt rediscovered a love of drawing‚ completing some sketches of the Kenyan landscape‚ people and wildlife.

Whilst continuing to refine her skills as a wildlife artist, Hunt also travelled to the United Kingdom and France, where she created 55 small ink sketches of the cities’ streets‚ most of which were completed on location. A larger pencil sketch of the view from Montmartre in Paris was later selected as a finalist in the Blacktown City Art Prize of 2014. Hunt then held her first solo exhibition at Brunswick Street Gallery in February 2015, with a second that followed in November of that same year.

Several of the ink sketches completed on location in Paris in 2014 are shown as part of Le Voyageur Assis, and inspired the larger, more experimental collage works completed in 2016 that celebrate the simple beauty of manmade city structures.

Hunt continues to be inspired by wildlife and conservation issues‚ the co-existence of the world’s peoples and the lives they carve out for themselves in sometimes difficult environments‚ both urban and wild.
