Leith Kennedy on Canvas

– I find myself having to confirm to so many things in life, even though its 2015. Monday to Friday is a very conformist part of my life, I must dress a certain way, follow certain policies and guidelines, but that is ok as it needs to be this way for good reason.

In the keeping of her Majesty’s Peace, I hear, see, smell, and touch, so many different and unrestrained moments in people’s lives. Things like bliss, love and anger, best friends, a kiss, even to sing and shout! This raw emotion is what I’ve tried to put to canvas, in fact, I have left a little “raw” canvas on almost every work, in the spirit of the moments I’ve tried to recreate.

Starting to feel the my theme was a little conformed, I had to lash out with a couple of big bold abstracts part way through, which was a great feeling.

As a gay artist, I am so excited by marriage equality – and for this reason my subjects are genderless, as gender and love in my mind should not really matter.

This is the first time I’ve displayed so many of my works publically, I hope you enjoy the colour and life brought to you from the mind and through my brushes - which is Leith Kennedy - On Canvas.
