Claire Frances Blankendaal is a Melbourne based photographic artist. Her artwork focuses capturing the fringe elements of people by selecting objects whereby the relationship between person and thing has become paredolic and begins to supersede its intended parameters.

Fascinated by the idea of the performative body as a conversational tool she marries the two in a ritualistic style of shooting whereby subject and object are isolated and captured in direct communication.

Moonrats takes this idea and makes time a possession. It is a solemn look into the small hours in which we unapologetically leap into the void of self-actualisation. It is here that one belonging to this demographic–a Moonrat, will see the darkness and light of themselves all at once in a twisted jumble and time becomes the most precious commodity we have.
